Then there were two
Around 4:30 I woke up this morning to a screaming Chicken. At that moment I knew the enemy had returned. I quickly jumped out of bed, regained my balance, and grabbed the .22. Right after I grabbed the gun the sceaming stopped and I knew it wasn't going to be good. I flipped the light on at the same time I opened the door. The raccoon heard the door open and ran to a nearby tree. I ran outside and spotted him.

----> Sidebar. If you had been scared and shot by a person, would you run only to a tree 15 feet away from the crime scene? This raccoon was killed not only because he killed my chickens, but because he was just dumb. I mean, come on. I shot him already before, why didn't he hightail it out of there. OK I'm done with this rabbit trail.

OK, I spotted him. The gun I had, had a scope on it, but it was too dark to see through it. I also tried using the bars to line up the shot, but I could not see because the scope was low on the gun. The only other alternative was to wing, so I did. To make this long story shorter, my enemy is dead and we have two chickens left.
